Jillian Custance is the current ANZBA Secretariat, and works from a home-based office 4 days a week.
She has extensive experience with the not-for-profit sector and has worked for a number of medical associations including Speech Pathology Australia, Qld Bush Nursing Association (QBNA), and the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS). In 2003 she became the Senior Secretariat Co-ordinator for the Qld Branch of the Australian Medical Association (AMAQ) and oversaw the Secretariat offices for the Australasian College of Tropical Medicine (ACTM) ; Qld Branch of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) ; Medical Benevolent Association of Qld (MBAQ); Doctors Health Advisory Service (DHAS, Qld); Private Cancer Physicians of Australia (PCPA); and the Australian and New Zealand Burn Association (ANZBA).
As ANZBA’s Emergency Management of Severe Burns programme continued to grow, additional administration was required. In 2008 ANZBA established its own office and Jillian was appointed as the Secretariat. In November 2013, she celebrates 10 yrs of service with ANZBA.
The Secretariat handles all the day-to-day operations of the association such as telephone calls, emails, facsimiles, correspondence, accounts and banking. Other major tasks undertaken through the year include Annual Subscriptions and the maintenance of the membership database and website; EMSB Courses; Board and Committee Meetings; and preparation for the Annual General Meeting.
