ANZBA provides high quality and unique training courses to health care providers to ensure that burns patient receive the highest quality care from the time of injury through the continuum of burn care. These courses include the Emergency Management of Severe Burns (EMSB) course and the Burn Rehabilitation Course (BRC) which are delivered in person by experienced faculty.
The EMSB course is also taught by partner societies in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, South Africa, Indonesia, Finland, Norway, Hong Kong and Germany. EMSB is also taught under a licensing agreement with Interplast in Fiji, Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea. It has previously been presented in Sweden Italy, Portugal, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Kenya and Sri Lanka. Regardless of where it is taught, the same standard is expected for participants to pass.
A Burn Education Course (BEC) has been developed and recently updated by senior burn nurses, this course delivered in Pacific countries to nurses involved in care of burn injured patients.
Online burn courses are in development, one aimed at healthcare workers outside of burn centres, including re-hospital providers, which will include care of smaller burn wounds. The other online course in development is aimed at healthcare workers who have done the EMSB course in the past and aims to refresh their knowledge and provide more advanced information.
